At the Falls River Square in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, six main structures were constructed to provide shade during direct overhead light. Another, much smaller structure, was added to cover portable sound booths during musical events.

Why was it Manufactured?
The site is a new addition to the urban core of this small Ohio town. In an effort to sponsor more civic events, the city added a community park, river walk and a pavilion to host musical events. The tensioned membrane hypar structures provide a highly visible vertical element to an otherwise flat site. The structures soar to heights of 35' and draws visitors' eyes away from a heavy concrete garage plus, when illuminated, beconing visitors to events.

What is unique about the structure and/or what technical difficulties were overcome to make it a reality?
Because the structures are primarily architectural, it was important for the structures to implement only high quality materials that would stand the test of time. Stainless cables and hardware were used throughout the structures. The PVDF coated PVC membranes will do well to resist the accumulation of any dirt or debris.
How did the project achieve the client's needs?
The very profound shape that was created for these structures is repeated at each structure with a 90 degree rotation in plan from one to the next. This feature provides a very dynamic and almost aeronautical appearance to the structure.
